Most of us don't identify as 'technical'

And the majority of us don't work in tech, IT, or computer science.

Yet so much of the future (and today!) is already being shaped by new technology, AI, and automation.

So what happens to those of us who aren’t ‘technical’?

  • How do we benefit from the technology boom?

  • How do we not get left behind?

  • How can we play an active role in shaping the future?

  • How can we harness the power of tech in our lives and careers?

a bit of background context from the
friendly face behind untechnical

Hi, I’m Edwina

As someone who’s worked in technology (as a non-technical person) for almost a decade, I know firsthand how daunting it can feel to know virtually nothing about tech!

But ironically, this has become one of my professional superpowers and has led me to work in some pretty cool companies and jobs.

For almost a decade, my role has been to communicate, train, teach, engage, and prepare colleagues from all over the world, to understand and adopt new technology and ways of working.

As a non-technical person, I’m used to being the least knowledgeable person in the room (on technical topics) but I use this perspective to ensure that I leave no colleague behind when navigating change, new tech or new concepts.

It was these experiences of working with colleagues feeling scared, anxious, and resistant to change and new technology that got me thinking - if seasoned professionals feel this way, what about everyone else?

In the digital age, tech understanding shouldn't be the privilege of a select few.

But let's face it, getting started can feel like trying to scale Mount Everest in flip-flops (or thongs, as we’d say in Australia!). It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking you're too late, not smart enough, too old, or just not "techie" enough.

Here's the truth: none of that matters. Your age, background, or current skill level doesn't dictate your ability to learn and grow in the tech world.

That's why I created untechnical – to be the safe and sturdy bridge you need to transition from being a total non-techie novice to a confident digital citizen.
